A supplied air respirator is only one part of the breathing air system. The air source, filtration, monitoring and flow-control equipment all need to be suitable for the respirator, number of users and working environment.
This range includes ambient air pumps, Grade-D breathing air filtration systems, breather boxes, carbon monoxide and gas monitors, climate-control devices and related equipment used to supply and manage breathing air.
Choosing the right supplied air equipment
Start with the respirator and the available air source. Check the manufacturer’s required airflow, number of users, hose length and fitting type before selecting pumps, filtration or monitoring equipment.
Some supplied air systems use a dedicated ambient air pump. Others connect to an existing compressed-air source, which may require appropriate filtration and monitoring before it can be used as breathing air.
If you are still selecting the respirator itself, see our supplied air respirators.
Breathing air filtration and monitoring
Breathing air filtration systems help condition compressed air before it reaches the wearer. Depending on the setup, this can include moisture and contaminant removal, pressure regulation and Grade-D breathing air filtration.
Gas monitoring equipment provides an additional safeguard where air quality needs to be monitored, including carbon monoxide monitoring for supplied breathing air systems.
Pumps, flow control and air delivery
Ambient air pumps provide a dedicated breathing air source where an appropriate compressed-air supply is not available. Flow-control and climate-control devices regulate the air delivered to the wearer and can help manage temperature in demanding working conditions.
Air then needs to reach the respirator through compatible airline and breathing tube components. See respirator breathing tubes and hoses for replacement and system-specific air-delivery components.
Check compatibility before ordering
Pumps, filtration units, monitors, hoses and fittings are not universally interchangeable. Confirm the respirator manufacturer, model, required airflow and connection type before ordering.
Not sure what your setup requires? Contact Novarlo with the respirator model, number of users and available air source and we can help identify the appropriate equipment.
