Half-mask respirators

A half mask respirator forms a tight seal over the nose and mouth while leaving the eyes uncovered. Reusable models can provide protection against particles, gases or vapours when used with the correct filters or cartridges for the identified hazard.

The Novarlo range includes reusable facepieces, respirators supplied with filters and tight-fitting powered-air options. Some products are complete configurations, while listings described as “respirator only” or “facepiece only” require compatible filters, cartridges or other components to be purchased separately.

Choose a respirator according to the airborne hazard, exposure concentration, required protection level, facepiece size and fit, and the conditions in which it will be worn. Filters and cartridges are manufacturer- and series-specific and must not be mixed unless the combination is expressly approved. Particulate filters do not protect against gases or vapours unless the product is specifically approved and labelled for those hazards.

Because a half facepiece does not cover the eyes, separate eye or face protection may also be required. Safety glasses, goggles and other protective equipment must be worn without interfering with the facepiece seal.

Tight-fitting respirators must be correctly sized and fit-tested before workplace use. Facial hair must not cross the sealing surface, and the wearer should perform a seal check each time the respirator is put on.

Air-purifying respirators, including powered-air models, filter ambient air and do not supply oxygen. They must not be used in oxygen-deficient or immediately dangerous to life or health atmospheres. Always follow the manufacturer’s instructions and the requirements of your workplace respiratory-protection program.
